Kennedy Agyapong tightens grip in NPP Presidential Race with 52% – Report

Having accurately predicted the winner of the Akwatia parliamentary by-election in 2025, Sanity Africa has released another report on the upcoming New Patriotic Party Presidential Primaries.

Sanity Africa’s Phase Three survey highlights a tightening contest despite Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong’s continued lead. The poll, spanning October 2025 to January 2026 and sampling 15,000 delegates nationwide, places Ken Ohene Agyapong at 52.0%, down slightly from 53.1% in the October report, while Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia closes the gap with a modest gain to 40.0%.

The most striking shift involves Dr. Bryan Acheampong, whose support has climbed notably by 2.0 percentage points to 7.0%, suggesting growing momentum among delegates drawn to his profile as a former minister and a stalwart in the party. In contrast, Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum slipped to 0.7% (a 1.3-point decline), and Ing. Kwabena A. Agyepong fell sharply to 0.3%.

With a large sample size drawn from the expanded 211,000-strong delegate pool and a high 99% confidence level (±5% margin of error), the survey underscores the dynamic nature of NPP internal politics. Sanity Africa emphasized that campaign strategies, regional dynamics, and candidate messaging in the coming weeks could reshape these figures significantly.

The organization, known for its governance-focused research, views this final pre-primary snapshot as a key benchmark for understanding how grassroots and elite delegate preferences ahead of the primaries.
