Sanity Africa’s recent polling work was the accurate prediction of the Akwatia parliamentary by-election which was won by the National Democratic Congress in 2025.
Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong remains the preferred choice among NPP delegates nationwide, according to Sanity Africa’s Phase Three voter intention survey released ahead of the party’s January 2026 presidential primaries.
The poll gives Agyapong 52.0% support, maintaining his edge over Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia at 40.0%, while the other three contenders—Dr. Bryan Acheampong (7.0%), Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum (0.7%), and Ing. Kwabena A. Agyepong (0.3%)—trail significantly.
Drawing from a robust sample of 15,000 delegates across all 276 constituencies (from an estimated 211,000 expanded album), the survey—conducted at 99% confidence with ±5% margin of error—captures a critical moment in the race. Agyapong’s slight 1.1-point decline since October is offset by Bawumia’s 1.0-point recovery and Acheampong’s notable 2.0-point surge, indicating pockets of shifting allegiance.
Sanity Africa, a Pan-African body dedicated to accountable governance, noted that the results reflect strong grassroots appeal for Agyapong but highlight vulnerabilities if rivals intensify regional mobilization or secure key endorsements. The final phase of the three-part series serves as a vital indicator of delegate sentiment, with experts anticipating intense campaigning in the days leading to the primaries. The findings could signal a more competitive showdown than initially anticipated, testing the NPP’s unity ahead of future national elections.
